Hunters are masters of the wilderness, wandering the lands of World of Warcraft with a beast companion at their side and a trusty bow, gun, or polearm in their hands. They can trap, track, and camouflage themselves, stalking their prey and choosing the most opportune moment to strike. To ensure everyone knows you’re at the top of the food chain, you’ll need the best transmog set for your Hunter in WoW: Dragonflight.
15 Best Hunter Transmog Sets in WoW, Ranked Good to Best
Whether you’re a Beast Master Hunter looking to tame all the pets, a Marksmanship Hunter who takes pride in your sharpshooting, or a Survival Hunter looking to scout ahead and strike from melee, you’ll want to look good while doing it.
The gear sets you’ll find for these rangers of the wilds typically feature hoods or horned helmets, with lots of animal motifs on their armor. We’ll go through some of the best transmog sets for your Hunter below, working our way down to our absolute favorite.
Serpentstalker Guise
We start off our list with the Serpentstalker Guise set, also known as tier 21, which was the last tier that had an official number. This set has a naga theme, with a myrmidon’s head as the helmet and fins on the arms and feet, in addition to glowing green orbs on the chest, belt, and shoulders.
The green, orange, and brown color scheme suits the Hunter well, looking like something that could blend in to the wilderness without being dull or boring.
This set drops from the Antorus, the Burning Throne raid in the Legion expansion. The version pictured drops in the Mythic version of the raid. Recolors are available from the lower difficulties as well as the Gladiator’s Chain Armor PvP sets.
Wildstalker Armor
Here we have another set from the Legion expansion – Wildstalker Armor, or tier 20. This set features a lot of skulls and bones, including jawbones at the shoulders, waist, and neck – trophies of your hunts, no doubt. There’s an arrow sticking out of one shoulder, a fitting signifier of your class. The helm has asymmetrical horns and a creepy, moving eyeball to unsettle your enemies (and probably your friends too).
This set drops from the Tomb of Sargeras raid, with the colorful version pictured above dropping on Mythic difficulty. More muted colors drop on the lower difficulties and are also available as Cruel Gladiator’s Chain PvP sets.
Queen’s Guard Scalemail
This bulky, somewhat aquatic-looking set comes from the Battle for Azeroth expansion, which heavily featured Azshara and her naga forces. This set is less for stalking the wilds and more for heavy combat, resembling plate more than mail. The hood-like helmet is unique and casts a shadow across the wearer’s eyes, granting an aura of mystery.
This set drops from the Eternal Palace raid, with the vivid gold version pictured above dropping on Mythic difficulty. Other colors are available from the lower difficulties as well as Season 3 of Battle for Azeroth PvP. There is also a skirt option available.
Yaungol Slayer Battlegear
The Yaungol Slayer Battlegear set, or tier 14, comes from the Mists of Pandaria expansion. The highlight of this set is the massive horned helmet and matching pauldron. The fur lining and scaled mail look both seem particularly appropriate for a Hunter’s armor. This set is perfect for Hunters who want something a little less flashy, but still intimidating.
This set drops from the Heart of Fear and Terrace of Endless Springs raids. The version pictured above drops on Heroic difficulty, while very slight color variations are available from the lower difficulties.
Lightning-Charged Battlegear
The Lightning-Charged Battlegear set is another great example of an aquatic gear set. The Cataclysm expansion focused heavily on the elements, adding an entire underwater zone in Vashj’ir. This set looks like it could have been assembled using materials from that zone, with a large fish head for a helmet, lots of scales and ropes, and a water drop insignia on the chest, belt, and boots.
The pieces of this set drop from several different raids: Bastion of Twilight, Blackwing Descent, Throne of the Four Winds, and Baradin Hold. The colorful green version pictured above drops on Normal mode, but if you prefer purple and orange, a recolor in that palette drops from Heroic mode.
Rylakstalker’s Battlegear
Rylakstalker’s Battlegear comes from the Warlords of Draenor expansion, and it looks the part with its rotating metal wheel on the belt and a very Iron Horde-looking combination of fur, iron, and bone. This set is great for a Hunter who prefers guns and engineering tools to a bow and skinning knife.
This set drops from the Blackrock Foundry raid, with the version pictured above appearing on Mythic difficulty. Some more primitive-looking versions of the set can be obtained from the lower difficulties.
Battlegear of the Saurok Stalker
This lizard-themed set originates from the Mists of Pandaria expansion. The Battlegear of the Saurok Stalker set, or tier 15, features iridescent blues and greens that are complimented nicely by copper accents. The lizard’s head helmet is eye-catching, and the two glowing yellow eyes stand out against the otherwise simple armor.
This set drops from the Throne of Thunder raid, with the green version pictured above coming from the Normal version. Red and blue recolors of the set are available from the other difficulty levels.
Tower Ascendant’s Battlegear
The Tower Ascendant’s Battlegear set is from the Shadowlands expansion, in case you couldn’t tell from its sinister look. This set isn’t a Hunter-specific tier set, but rather a general mail armor set. It does seem particularly well suited to Hunters, though, with its ram horn helmet and furl-lined chainmail. A great transmog set to show off a darker side of your Hunter.
This set can be obtained from the Sanctum of Domination raid, with the version pictured above dropping on Mythic difficulty and various other colors appearing in the lower difficulty levels.
Gladiator’s Chain Armor
The first PvP set on our list comes from the Burning Crusade expansion, and it looks like a cross between a Warden and a Fel Reaver. If you’ve been hoping for a Warden class, this is your chance to cosplay one, albeit with a fel glow around the shoulders and eyes.
This set originated with Arena Season 1 of TBC, but it can still be purchased with Honor or tokens. There is also a similar brown-colored PvE set: Demon Stalker Armor, or tier 4. Its tokens drop from the Karazhan, Gruul’s Lair, and Magtheridon’s Lair raids.
Dark Ranger’s Attire
If you’d rather cosplay as a Dark Ranger than a Warden, we have a set for that too. The Dark Ranger’s Attire was added in the Shadowlands expansion, and very closely matches the armor worn by Sylvanas’s band of Forsaken Hunters, with its draping hood and grim color scheme. While it’s relatively simplistic, it’s a very clean and fitting look for a Hunter transmog set.
To obtain this set, you must complete the Return to Lordaeron questline. Then it will become available for purchase in Trueshot Lodge, your class order hall from the Legion expansion.
Vicious Gladiator’s Chain Armor
Vicious Gladiator’s Chain Armor is a PvP set from the Cataclysm expansion. This set offers an eyepatch and chain mail mask on the head piece, topped by a glowing iron crown. The rest of the set is nicely detailed with lots of chain mail and leather straps, and it’s a very hunter-appropriate green color.
This set originated with Arena Season 9, but it can still be obtained through Honor Points. There are two other versions of the set, by only the blue recolor is still available.
Flamewaker’s Battlegear
Another set from the Cataclysm expansion, Flamewaker’s Battlegear, or tier 12, offers a fiery look befitting its origins. The mask resembles one of the bosses the set drops from, Shannox, with its signature eyepatch and horns. The rest of the set has a look of wood bark and glowing embers.
If the flames weren’t a giveaway, this set drops from the Firelands raid, with a couple of pieces available in Baradin Hold. The version pictured above drops on Normal difficulty while a redder version drops on Heroic.
Also we fully understand if you don’t want to look exactly like Shannox with the head piece. Luckily, even if you disable showing your helm, this set still looks as Hunter transmog.
Giantstalker Armor
Coming in at number three on our list, it’s the very first tier set for Hunters in WoW, Giantstalker Armor, or tier 1. It may look a little low-res now after so many years, but this Hunter set holds a lot of nostalgia for old-school WoW players and WoW Classic players alike. It’s got a great ’80s movie vibe, bringing to mind The Beastmaster or Conan the Barbarian – a different type of hunter than the hooded, heavily armored look we usually see.
This set drops from the Molten Core raid. There is also an orange recolor available from dungeons in the Burning Crusade expansion.
Battlegear of the Savage Hunt
At number two, we have a set that is just very Hunter-ish, the Battlegear of the Savage Hunt, or tier 18. This set was added to the game with the Warlords of Draenor expansion, and offers very simple hooded armor accented with some interesting black and green details on the shoulders and helm. The main draw here, though, is the light green hood that drapes down over the chestpiece.
Tier 18 drops from the Hellfire Citadel raid, and the version pictured above can be obtained via Mythic difficulty. There are several recolors available from lower difficulties as well as Warlords Season 2 PvP. None of them have the same details, but their hoods can mix and match very nicely with other gear.
Eagletalon Battlegear
Finally, at the top (technically bottom) of our Hunter transmog list, we have a set from the Legion expansion, which brought with it many iconic class armor sets. The Eagletalon Battlegear set, or tier 19, is no different.
The set offers an armored hood and a matching suit of mail with some very nice details, from the metal accents to the bird buckle on the belt to the glowing shoulders. The set also matches some of the artifact weapon appearances for the class, making it easy to transmogrify a complete set of matching gear.
Tier 19 drops from the Nighthold and Emerald Nightmare raids, with the purple and teal version dropping on Mythic difficulty. Recolors drop on the lower difficulties of the raids as well as from Legion Season 1 PvP, including the red version pictured above.
