How to Make Milk Kefir

Simply add 1 tsp (5g) of fresh organic milk kefir grains as purchased to 250ml ml organic milk and produce 1 cup of milk kefir every 24 hours. Instructions and ongoing support are included with the purchase.

Storage of Milk Kefir

you are not making milk kefir you can store milk kefir grains in a refrigerator in milk for up to 2 weeks. For long-term storage, milk kefir grains can be stored in a freezer for up to 2 years. After freezing, milk kefir grain may take up to 4 batches before returning to original potency.

Quality kefir grains for goat milk kefir

Arrived within two days of placing order to Melbourne, great service. One need to activate the grains to get the quality kefir specially if you are using pasteurized goat milk, throw away your first couple of kefir and start using than after and within two weeks you will get thick kefir. Don't over fermant the kefir, for 5 GM ideally start with 250gm milk and than go up to 2 cups for 1 TBsp grains, these grains are little babies so take care of them and handle them gently.I was so impressed at well the kefir grains worked, making kefir has been very easy for me and the grains keep increasing each batch I make. It is a very robust product.

Easy to order

Good website, cost of the milk grains was a bit steep, compared to the water kefir. Currently on batch 4 and still not as tart as store bought or home made kefir I have done before, even after 24 hours of fermentation (living in Darwin, so heat isn’t the issue as the kefir ferments rapidly and separates fairly quickly).
Also suggest a QR code on the instruction sheet sent with grains for quicker access - trying to locate the eBook link in an email separate to the order confirmation is a bit of a pain.

New kefir grains

Hello. My new kefir grains aren't growing despite following your instructions. I started fermenting as soon as they were delivered with 250mls with full cream milk. Result was pretty liquid kefir after 3 days. Repeated the process 2 more times with similar results. Then tried 500 mls of A2 light milk & drained after 5 days. Same although the kefir tastes good ie tart. My previous kefir grains from Nourish Organish produced a lot of grains over 1.5 years of use. Don't understand why these new grains won't grow.

Thank you for your feedback. Kefir grains can take a few batches to acclimatise and are also highly seasonal and weather sensitive. We recommend reducing milk quantity to 125ml until grains fully acclimatise. Make sure to only use full fat milk. The kefir should be relatively thick with slight separation, a tart taste and bready/ yeasty aroma.
